This is an original triple m pre-war pair of “bottom feed” S.U. carburettor float bowls - complete!
Exceptionally rare and an original fitment on the early 1930’s mg sports cars.
I enclose pics showing these on mg m types mg F and D types and in the factory workshop manuals of the time.
There may be other mg model these were original equipment on?
They are in great condition for the age with orig. brass floats, needle and jets, and float bowl clips.
Finding these in working order is like trying to find the original mmm S.U. “petrolift” fuel pump!
And certainly an essential for a truly authentic early MG concours car.
The production fitment of these factory float bowls must have been fairly short - the experts will know, as all the pre-was cars I have looked at have later design float bowls fitted -
There seem to be no available copies? - although the Bentley and some MG supercharger kits offer very large bronze versions as replica types.
Not a barn find!! - They have been very carefully stored and do not leak, and have that early alloy deeper grey tone. (Matches the original S.U. carb body)
Price is firm for such unique and rare parts, - will not separate as they came from the same car many years ago, when AMAL m/c carbs were fitted,
and so would suit the Pre-War MG enthusiast, - looking to have the correct set up.
